A domain transfer can typically take up to 5 days for the current registrar to acknowledge the transfer. This is the maximum amount of time that is normally allowed by the losing registrar to accept the transfer request once it is validated.

To validate a request, the domain registrant generally only requires the EPP/Auth Code, or the transfer code, to do the transfer to another registrar. Do ensure that the transfer lock has also been disabled.

Some TLDs have much shorter transfer periods, or almost instant in the case of .ca domains. The transfer process is established by the registry that manages the domain TLD.
