On March 29th, 2023, WordPress released their newest version, 6.2. This version comes with performance improvements, security tightening, bug fixing, and a number of new features.
While we generally advise it’s important to keep your application up to date with the most recent versions, with this update, we strongly encourage you to delay updating to 6.2.
With WordPress 6.2, it has introduced breaking changes and compatibility issues with plugins and themes. Since this version was released, we have received a multitude of support requests that their WordPress Application is now down.
Before updating to 6.2, like all major version changes, we strongly recommend that you wait a few days or weeks before updating to the newest version.
- Update your plugins and themes first. This ensures compatibility with the new version of WordPress. You can do this by logging into your WordPress dashboard and navigating to the Plugins and Themes sections to check for any available updates.
- Back up your website's data before updating to WordPress 6.2. In the event that you encounter any issues with the update, you will be able to quickly restore your website to its previous state.
If you have enabled auto-updates for major versions of WordPress, we advise you to disable this feature to avoid any issues. While auto-updates can be convenient, using this feature for major updates is not recommended. It is always best to review and test updates on a staging environment of your website before applying them to your live site.
