In WP-Squared, the Maintenance Mode option is a feature that allows you to temporarily take your WordPress website offline for maintenance or updates while displaying a user-friendly message to visitors, letting them know that the site is under maintenance. This is useful when you're performing tasks like updates, backups, redesigning pages, or troubleshooting issues, and you don't want your visitors to see or interact with an incomplete or broken site. Usually using the staging feature (see our other article) is preferable, but maintenance mode is an option to "turn off" your website so to speak, such as in the event of major work on the website's back-end.

How to turn on maintenance mode:

  1. Log in to the WP-Squared dashboard
  2. Click the "manage website" icon to the left of your website (circled in yellow below)
  3. Click on the icon in the red box below:
  4. Fill out the form shown below to configure your maintenance page, then push the button on the bottom right corner that says "Turn Maintenance Mode ON":
