Updating Domain Contact Information (WHOIS Info)
Intro
When you register a domain you are asked to supply a handful of contacts related to the domain. This is also known as your WHOIS info. This information is stored separately from the info used for your client profile, users, and contacts and therefore must be maintained separately.
Most domain types have the following contacts listed:
- Registrant Contact
- Administrative Contact
- Technical Contact
- Billing Contact
This information is for the registry, and we will contact those listed on your account. The WHOIS info very seldom needed to deliver your services aside from satisfying the registry's requirements for those who have web domains. Most people use the same contact info for all fields, and web developers often take ownership of the domain on a business's behalf for ease of service - this is okay.
You need to keep this information up to date. In certain circumstances, failing to do so can result in domain suspension, which can be a massive interruption to business.
If available, we encourage you to use an email address that is independent of the domain in question, otherwise, if there are issues with your domain (IE a lapse in registration or errors in DNS records) you will be unable to send and receive correspondence.
How to Update
Here is where to update your domain contact information.
- Log in to our client portal at https://manage.fullhost.com.
- Go to Domains > My Domains. To the right of the domain in question, click the "..." text, and select "edit contact information" (see pictures below, these areas are circled in yellow)
- The 4 contacts should be listed there. If they are not, please open a support ticket.
- You can either choose to “use existing account contact” or “specify custom information below”
- Update the information that is current for all contacts and press save changes

If you receive the following message when pressing save changes it means that there is data quality issue that the registry has not accepted.
- “An issue was encountered while updating the domain contact details. Please contact support.”
- Please contact our support directly and indicate what specific changes you were trying to make (From > To)
- We will review and let you know.
Important note: changing the registrant contact often triggers an ICANN Trade. For ICANN domains such as .com, .org, and .net, you may be asked to verify your email address on file by submitting a special code sent to your listed email address. See this article for more information. This does not apply to .ca domains, which are governed by CIRA, not ICANN.
IMPORTANT - IT IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED AND ENCOURAGED TO USE AN EMAIL ADDRESS THAT IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE DOMAIN YOU ARE MANAGING. (Example: if your domain is fullhost.com, do not use sample@fullhost.com). If anything happened to your domain, for example, a suspension due to non-payment, or buggy DNS records, you might not receive correspondence.
